Thank You for 2012
Dear Friends: As usual, I am finding myself unable to reach out and personally thank as many of you as I would like to and I am feeling more and more ungrateful as every day passes in to the New Year. So, though in a far less inadequate fashion than I would prefer, this is my “Thank You” for 2012. Many of you pray, volunteer, tell others about us, and financially support this work. For this we are truly grateful. Here’s a little of what you have helped us accomplish in this past year.
This has been an amazing year at the Catholic Spiritual Direction apostolate. Catholics have spent more than 33,000 hours (yes, that is thirty-three thousand hours) reading content on our web site. We have sent free spiritual resources around the world to those who have taken a vow of poverty or to the faithful poor. We have provided retreats and talks all across the United States on a monthly basis (all without charging speaking fees). We have created formational videos to reach out to our YouTube friends with faithful Catholic spirituality (which can be hard to find on the web). We have provided a number of on-line live courses on the spiritual life with approximately 800 registrants from all around the world. We have provided counsel for priests, religious, and lay faithful seeking to overcome challenges in their spiritual formation or in their service to others. We have published another book, Navigating the Interior Life, that is already in its second printing within two months of release.
These things are, in many ways, are just the tip of the iceberg. I am truly astounded at the ways that God is using this work to deepen the faith of His people and to strengthen His Church. If you would like to read a few testimonies, this post is full of them. Here’s a brief video from Fr. John and Dan that provides more background.
The other amazing reality is how expensive all this work is. Would you believe that we have spent over $55,000 this year serving people around the world? Where do all the funds come from? The answer is YOU. Many of our faithful readers give sacrificially, in time, talent, and treasure, to make all of this work. In fact, here’s a note that came this Christmas with a donation:
“Dear Dan, May you find new meaning and hope in the joy of the Christ Child’s birth and in His everlasting presence in our world. We decided not to give each other gifts for Christmas but instead to contribute to your ministry.” Charlie and Darleen
As you might suspect, this note moved me to the core in ways that cannot be expressed.
God is using you to accomplish all of this. We are overwhelmed with gratitude and thanksgiving.
Please let me simply say, with all my heart, Thank You! May God continue to bless you and yours.
PS: For those of you who live in the Washington D.C. area, I will be at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception at a book signing for Navigating the Interior Life outside the bookstore. I always enjoy meeting our readers/viewers so please stop by my table. I will be there all day next week on Thursday the 24th.
please consider supporting our mission with a donation!
