Dear God, Thou hast generously blessed Thy servant, St. Pio of Pietrelcina, with the gifts of the Spirit. Thou hast marked his body with the five wounds of Christ Crucified, as a powerful witness to the saving Passion and Death of Thy Son. Endowed with the gift of discernment, St. Pio labored endlessly in the confessional for the salvation of souls. With reverence and intense devotion in the celebration of Mass, he invited countless men and women to a greater union with Jesus Christ in the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist.

Through the intercession of St. Pio of Pietrelcina, I confidently beseech Thee to grant me the grace of (mention your intentions here). Amen.

I don’t understand novena prayers never have ,
Why can we just pray to our Lord in jesus name? The people in the new testament had no saints to pray too so they did pray to our Lord Christ.
Please explain if I am wrong.
I have always prayed too our Father in Heaven and he has alway answered me.

  Well – lots to your questions….You can pray to God in Jesus name and Catholics do this as a normal practice and this is a good thing. As well, prayer to the saints was a normal practice among Christians both during and after the time of the New Testament. Christians have always made it a practice to ask other Christians to pray for them. As Christians we know our brothers and sisters who have gone before us have the ability to do this in a special way. Thus, we ask them to pray for us.
