A Guide to Christian Meditation

Dear Catholic Spiritual Direction Friends,

Many of you know that Father John’s book, The Better Part is in its third printing. In the beginning of The Better Part Father John provided us with a brief  but profound guide to Christian meditation. The good news is that now you can have that guide in a new book called A Guide to Christian Meditation. In this book, after a brief historical introduction to Christian meditation (not available in The Better Part), Father John provides an elegant and memorable method for meditation along with very helpful examples of specifically how to put this method into practice. He manages to do this while keeping our sights on Christ, not the method. This emphasis helps the reader to avoid common and unfortunately popular errors that overemphasize the means instead of the all important end – a deeper relationship with Christ himself.

If you or anyone you know struggles with prayer or is looking for a way to enhance their prayer life, this is a fantastic resource at a very reasonable price (only $6.95!) Click here to purchase or learn more.

That is so fantastic! That section was my favourite part but not everyone could or would purchase the bigger book! This is a great treasure for anyone wanting to go deeper in prayer and in relationship with God. Great, great idea!!! I am going to purchase multiple copies as gifts.

I have both books, and The Better Part is a wonderful way to understand the Gospels in 5 different ways! An awesome way to understand!! The guide is what is in the front of the book, and small enough to fit in a purse or a pocket. Very convenient and portable. Both are highly reccommended!!! The guide helps anyone not familiar with the aspect of prayer. It has been a fantastic resource for me, as well as many others who are struggling with prayer…

How sad that with my meagre resources ( I am a 71 year-old widow) I can not afford to purchase the books even if, by chance, they are available in our local Catholic Bookshop here at Holy – from time to time – some relevant passages from the Books in his future articles to help those of us who cannnot afford them to benefit from the wisdom therein. God bless you

Sorry, Father. My last message which I have just sent was incomplete.

What I was requesting, since I cannot afford to purchase the books with my meagre resources, and the books may not even be available here at the Catholic Bookshop at the Holy Family Minor Basilica, Nairobi,if it would be possible, Fr. John, for you to include some quotes from the books, from time to time, in your future articles, to assist those of us who cannot either find or afford the books. Thank you and God bless you
