By Father Thomas Dubay, S.M.

Father Thomas Dubay has written a practical guide for Christians who are considering spiritual direction or who are already engaged in the process. He explains what spiritual direction is, the qualities to look for in a good spiritual director, the process of finding a director, ways to develop a deeper prayer life, and how to continue growing when your enthusiasm wears thin.  This is a fantastic resource for those who are seeking and already in spiritual direction.

Hi Father … Thanks for providing a much needed topic in today’s world. I have a situation though, I guess. I’m disabled .. live in a rural area and although I receive Holy Communion (by extraordinary ministers) mostly weekly, I’m lucky to have my confession heard 3-4 times a year. For months I turned away from it but finally gave in to making and repairing rosaries and more recently found myself begging to enter more deeply into Christ’s Passion, praying for the world and feeling extreme sorrow and pain for others difficulties as well as the wrongs in the world. I have only 1 brother that I rarely see and isn’t religious at all. Since I’ve begun making rosaries, some odd things have happened as well. For example, a woman that I’d never met saw a flyer about the rosaries and after a couple emails and a phone call, wound up giving me a 1st class relic of Bl. Francis Xavier Seelos complete with Vatican documentation. I’m trying to pray more and trust … I feel something is happening here … I know trusting Jesus in all things is the answer and that the Holy Spirit will guide me according to the Father’s Perfect Will … I’m just wondering, if that’s why I found this site being I seem to have no hope locally of finding someone in a rural area??
Thanks for your time and any advice you might be able to offer!
